On Thursday night Chris and I were packing for Boston. Chris headed down to the basement to get the suitcases and my birthday gift he had been hiding down there. Eventually, he came back up stairs, sat me down on the bed, and said the basement has FLOODED! Are you kidding me!?!? Yup, it's true and it is by far the worst it has flooded. Apparently, 40 units in the complex flooded. Stupid Lee and all your rain!
Liam and I checked out run by our house earlier in the day. It was like a river! No way was I going to walk in that water this time! We have never seen the water so high since we have lived here. We could have done some white-water rafting down it! Someone had put up caution tape to keep people out.
It was probably about 7-8 feet deep! I'm just glad it is done raining. Later that night it was even worse! Probably, another foot deeper.
The little hole in the bottom of the brick was the culprit. By the time we finished moving stuff we had about 2-3 inches of water!

By the time we finished only one small corner of the basement was dry.
Liam enjoyed the flood though. He was just happy to run around in the water!
Chris and I worked frantically to get all the furniture upstairs. Luckily, Tammy and her friend Matt came over and helped. Tammy entertained Liam for us :) We got to bed about midnight and woke up at 4am so we could finish packing and catch our flight! What a way to start the weekend!

How crazy!! Isn't it funny how you take for granted the AZ weather, like you learn to have water and not leave living things in cars... but flooding? Crazy talk. Haha. Hope it gets better soon, basement sealed tight and no damage to anything (and no neighbors taking things that are just drying off!! haha).
