A little over a week ago we decided to take a trip to Oatman. We thought the boys would enjoy seeing the burros wandering the streets. I told Liam that the drive wasn't too long and he would still have plenty of time to come home and play. Boy was I wrong! G&G Casson came with us and we all piled in to the Highlander and began our journey. First we attempted the shortest route, but there was a sign that said the road was closed a few miles ahead, so we called a restaurant to see if it really was closed (it had snowed a few days prior) they informed us that it wasn't so we continued and ended up encountering a barricade since the road was indeed quite closed. So we turned around and took a shortcut through Golden Valley, of course by this time the boys were hungry so we stopped at Sonic. The Sonic stop was after we already made two small stops for Amelia. The boys didn't seem to mind and Liam was enjoying sitting in the far back with his dad.
After we stopped at Sonic we had to stop again just outside Bullhead to feed a screaming Amelia. She normally does well in the car but on occasion decides she wants NOTHING to do with it. Once she was good we continued on our way and finally got to Oatman via dirt road three hours after the trip started, ha!
The boys were very excited to get out of the car and the burros greeted them instantly.
Amelia was moby wrapped with me but she got to visit with them too

This little gal crashed before we got back to the car
We took a different route on our way out. So we basically travelled EVERY road you can use to get in and out of Oatman. Colin was exhausted and crashed pretty quickly.
We ordered pizza on our way back into town since we got home later than we thought we would. It was a good day even though our 45 minute trip took 3 hours. We need to do more little weekend trips like this, now where should we go next?
