Beach and Fireworks (and a big ol' beatle)

This weekend was both eventful and, yet relaxed.  On Saturday we decided to go to Chesapeake Beach which is about 40 minutes away on a little patch of sand.  I, personally, needed it!  It was nice to soak in a little sun! Don't worry I wore sunblock, and I am still the palest I have ever been! Then, we came home and napped.  It was wonderful.  On the 4th of July we ran some errands, went to the grocery store for our BBQ purposes, and of course went to a craft store against Chris' will.  It was necessary though so I could make an AWESOME whale lamp for baby boy's room.

So after dinner we had to decide were to watch the fireworks keeping in mind I would most likely need a restroom close by.  Chris decided that we should head over to the George Washington Memorial Masonic Temple, which is in Alexandria.  It worked out great.  We could see the National mall display and the National Harbor display very well.  On top of that we could see about 40 other shows in Maryland just across the river they were small but it was still pretty cool!

21 Weeks

Our baby is approx 9.1 inches and weighs about 13.7. His eyelashes and nails are starting to grow! He's about the size of a bottle of root beer.

20 Weeks!

Here are some 20 week pictures!  Since I did not put any up on Monday but today marks the official 1/2 way mark!  

I think this picture looks smaller than the last 2 weeks I am not sure why!

It's a......

Well, we have some exciting news; we know what we are having!  First of all this week was pretty neat because Chris finally felt the baby move.  I think it may have taken him by surprise because usually when I make him feel my stomach and claim the baby is moving all he can feel is my pulse and maybe some bowel workings. Secondly, we bought some children books.  I have gradually been making a list of all the ones I eventually want to buy.  We ended up getting 2 Little Golden books.  Thirdly, today was our ultrasound, it was TORTUROUS!  I had to drink 4 cups of water one hour before hand.  I had to pee well before we even arrived  and then this women pressed all over my stomach eventually I couldn't even look at the pictures because I was so worried I may pee my pants!!  Don't worry I survived and she let me empty my bladder and come back for a few more images!  Here are a few from this morning.

So I guess I should tell you all what we are having?  Well it is a baby BOY!!  I guess I will have to wait until next time for Amelia Jean!  We had a girls name but we are still undecided on a boys name. Let the name arguing begin!! I also had to go do a little shopping to help convince myself that it was a boy so here is what I found.

 I also picked out some themed cloth for the room and bedding. Today I actually went and bought it since we know what we are having. I am going to go with whales all based on this cute little material. Brandi, we may hire you for a painting and send you a little sample of a whale :)

Nesting Already?

This weekend was a very productive weekend for Chris and me.  I decided it is time to completely rearrange our basement and our bedroom.  I have been talking about it for a few weeks now, but it officially happened.  We started with a lovely trip to Ikea on Saturday.  I wanted to get some type of shelving to organize all my scrapbooking stuff and more room for the ridiculous number of books we have accumulated.  Ikea was a success and we found a very nice large shelf.  We then continued our adventure to the mall, where we browsed cribs, I bought some fat scrubs, we went to Costco (which is really starting to chap my hide because they refuse to carry several essential items recently, including chicken chili and delicious orange chicken), and then we landed at JoAnne's fabrics where I grabbed some more fabric to practice with.  When we finally arrived home I was beat, so I tried to take a nap before we had a date night.  We went to a neat little Thai food restaurant in Old Town right by the river.  The food was excellent and then we headed to Toy Story 3, which was Fantastic.  I even teared up a little at the end but tried to hide it from Chris so he didn't make fun of me!
On Sunday we actually did the rearranging and shelf building.  I am very pleased with the results!  We are still working on getting the bedroom situated but have moved all the junk on top of the desk down stairs.  All that is left is moving the actual desk to make room for a crib!

Therefore I decided to make more!  Practice makes perfect, right?

19 weeks!

Our baby is about 8.3 in and weighs 7.9-9.5 oz, about the size of a subway sandwich! Plus it is starting to grow hair on its head that is if it is not a bald baby!

18 Weeks!

Well I really have nothing exciting to say this week so if you would like to stop reading now you are more than welcome! Chris and I went to Richmond this weekend to visit family.  It was very nice and relaxing.  We ate too much, laid around, played board games, and went to a movie.  Surprisingly, I took NO pictures which is out of the ordinary, so I apologize.  On Monday we had a doctor appointment and our baby still has a heartbeat which is always a relief! I have also began to begin to feel a suspicious flutter in my stomach!  Yes I can feel the little bambino; not all the time but here and there.  I tried to get Chris to feel it but he could not, yet.  The movement is just not strong enough at this point. We get to find out what we are having on June 30th, as long as our future child is not shy.

This is my practice run sewing squares together, and apparently I can handle that.  Now I have to attempt the batting again!  I figure this would be a nice spit up rag!

I want you all to know I just ate and I really don't think I am this big!

Basement Sweatshop

So, I had this idea that I wanted to make the baby crib bedding.  Three seconds later I it occurred to me how ludicrous the idea was!  Later that day Brandi posted on her blog how she was making her baby a quilt.  I then decided to email Brandi for advice, and she convinced me I should attempt it, much to my dear husband's dismay.  A few days later I dragged Chris to the most dreaded place on Earth...WAL-MART (I am still not sure he has forgiven me) [nope - WCC].  I decided I really didn't trust my sewing skills and decided to start with just a regular blanket.  I got a cute little neutral pattern with frogs on it and I like frogs as anyone who has seen my home decor knows:)  I have never used batting, which is the cushion stuff for the blanket.  It was a NIGHTMARE.  That stuff does not sew straight and it stretches.  So anyway- long story short- I finished the blanket and it works but it is not perfect, as I would like it to be.  I found out later it is best to pin the down the batting all over the blanket so I am planning another practice run before an actual attempt!  Here are some pictures of our very first baby blanket!

1 Month Anniversary; Pickles and Peaches

Today is our 1 Month Anniversary!  How did we celebrate?  We bought a mini grill and made steaks, fresh corn on the cob, baked potatoes, and mushrooms.  It was great!  Then as we are sitting outside eating our SUPER sweet neighbor comes by and offers to give us her nice gas grill that is only 1 year old!! She is the wonderful lady who watched our house, picked up our packages, and prevented our cars from being towed while we were gone. At any rate I believe we may take her up on this very nice offer :)

Well, I am starting to think this blogging thing is making the pregnancy seem even longer! Why?  Because I am actually keeping track of how far along I am :) Some of you wanted to now how I am feeling and overall I am feeling fine.  I have discovered something new though...SLEEPING IN!! I never seemed to be able to do it before but now (and yes this may shock a few of you) I am able to sleep until 9-10 am no problem. I don't even feel guilty about it!  Thank goodness Chris has been very tolerant of my laziness :)  He cooks and cleans which has been WONDERFUL, no wonder I married him ;)

My mom was asking me the other night if I was craving anything, she has this crazy idea that she can guess the sex by what I am eating.  I have been wanting certain things lately and this may gross some of you out but don't worry I don't eat it together!  I love PICKLES and PEACHES!  I can eat about 5 of each everyday that is how great it tastes!  I did have a little thing for lays potato chips but that has calmed down a little bit :)  That is all I have for this post and I leave you with some pictures although I don't think it has changed too much :)

And according to Chris I must add that the baby has sweat glands that are working well at this point.  I get all my information from his phone on some pregnancy/baby tracker app. that he downloaded to his phone.
