Keepers of the Wild

Last Thursday Hayley was in town with her sweet little gals.  Her mom had come across an ad in the paper about this place called Keepers of the Wild in Hackberry, AZ.  So since all her nieces and nephews started school that day and her family was tied up, we took the kids to the animal park.

We weren't sure what to expect but overall it was a good experience, although

the place wasn't much to look at from the outside and the cost was a little steep for about an hour of entertainment.

It was hot even though we arrived at about 9:30 in the morning.  We started by checking out the white tiger, which is one of my favorite animals.

This huge ostrich walked next to Colin on our path.

Soon enough Isla and Liam decided they wanted to pull over and check him out.

This place had a lot of tigers (probably 10), coyotes, bobcats, mountain lions, alpacas, and a few others.  The walk is along a dirt trail but they are trying to make it nice and so there are some shady spots to sit down. The boys enjoyed this bench for a minute.

One of the workers gave Liam and Isla an Ostrich feather they thought was pretty cool.  Here they are looking at some little monkeys.  Liam even made some monkey sounds and they started talking back to him.  He thought it was awesome.

They had a couple turtles and they were the fastest moving turtles I have ever seen!

This little gal was worn out but enjoyed waving her feather around.

This picture doesn't do it justice but this was one creepy looking monkey.  His eyes were red.

The kids were pooped after a while and we had seen all the animals.  They each picked a little baby animal from the gift store and of course had to climb on this fire truck before we left.

It was a good little morning trip and gave us something to do but I'm not sure we'd go again.  You never know though ;)  I was a little worried the boys would fall asleep on the way home and I wouldn't get to nap, too, but luckily they did not.

He was pretending to sleep on his little tiger with this huge smile on his face.  Liam originally was actually trying to sleep but Colin was being goofy enough to keep him awake.

 Once we were back in town we went to Subway and ate lunch with daddy.  It was a good little morning adventure and boy did it wear me out.  The heat plus pushing the stroller exhausted me!
